The product
SunSkipper is a tensioned shade canopy for the foredeck of a sailing yacht. It hooks onto the forestay, is held out by lightweight aluminium poles and straps to the stanchions — no tools and no permanent fittings — then packs into a single carrying bag.
SunSkipper is designed for sailing yachts with a forestay and stanchions with lifelines along the foredeck. Boats differ, so if you are unsure, email sales@sunskipper.com with your boat's make, model and length before you order and we will tell you whether it fits.
A bimini shades the cockpit, and a boom tent hangs over the boom to cover the cockpit and cabin top. SunSkipper shades the foredeck instead, the widest open space on board, and it needs no boom, no halyard and no permanent fittings. Many sailors use it alongside their bimini. Our sailboat shade guide compares all the options.
